ABSTRACT
There are so many reasons why it is important to work effectively with ethnic minorities, and with families across all cultures – mainstream and non-mainstream – in Western child protection systems (discussed in this chapter):
• Ethnic minorities have less power (social, cultural, economic and political) than the mainstream and so struggle harder to preserve their right to be different in the way they parent and function as families.
