ABSTRACT

In the Passion-Driven Classroom, everything has a purpose, organizational detail is key, and member input is critical. It may take a while for your students to get into the practices and routines of a passion-driven classroom. Allowing students to sit as a Club minimizes time lost in transitions moving from desk to small group to large group and back again. Student seating arrangements and small group work can be designed from the information gleaned from the talent portraits and observations. Finding the balance between passionate pursuits and mandated curriculum is no easy task either. Students need a predictable structure and a routine in order to learn so they can become more independent. Passion-driven learning can take place only in certain settings and in an environment where the passionate beliefs and actions of all learners are valued and recognized.
