ABSTRACT
The petitioners point out that a cursory reading of this paragraph gives no idea of the horrible nature of the danger to women which underlies it. As long as a police officer is permitted to arrest any woman whom he suspects of being a prostitute and to subject her to a degrading and shameful examination, and she herself is deprived of all power of appeal, so long are women the victims of a bumiliating and one-sided legislation.
