ABSTRACT

Weather and climate have a direct impact on our daily lives. The kinds of houses we live in, the kind of food we eat, the clothes we wear, our leisure activities, and even the nature of our moods, all depend on weather. A daily topic of conversation in many homes, weather is all pervasive. From a geographical perspective, understanding weather and climate processes has been described as ‘an essential life skill’. Weather is something children can easily relate to and understand. Making observations about the weather and discussing climate can facilitate children’s natural curiosity. Whether it is raining or sunny, weather has an impact on children’s lives every day. Meteorologists study the weather using a variety of technical equipment to monitor changes in the weather over time and make predications for the future, e.g. a weather forecast. A weather forecast can include information on precipitation, wind and air pressure. Ideally, every school should have a weather station.
