ABSTRACT

There are a number of different ways in which a piece of research can be reported. Be aware of the conventions and limitations of the particular one you have chosen and of the likely audience of the report. A report of research written for an academic journal needs to have sufficient detail for the reader to be able to evaluate the worth of what you are reporting and to replicate the research in every relevant detail. On the other hand, a spoken presentation, particularly when time is available for questions, needs to have less detail in order to enhance understanding.
