ABSTRACT

TEE ~:~hort dark day of DecE:mber 31st, 1889, will be ever memorable to all men and women into whose lives the words of Rouert and Elizabeth Browning have brought courage, fortitude and hope, for on that day the mortal vesture of the poet was laid to rest in "T es~minster Abbey beneath the strains of the solemn requiem:-

"He giveth His beloved sleep."
