ABSTRACT

LADY DocTOR IN A CoRONER's CouRT.-Mr. Coroner Hicks held an inquest, April 22nd, at the Star and Garter, Battersea, upon the body of an infant named. Martin, aged eleven months, the daughter of a carman residing in the Askalon Road, Battersea. The child· died suddenly on the 18th inst. Miss Frances Dicker-· son, a registered medical practitioner, house surgeon a.t the Belgrave Hospital, stated that she had seen the child, and upon the application of the mother had given a certificate. She was present at a post-mortem examination of the deceased, and agreed that death was due to asphyxia, consequent upon pneumonia and bronchitis.- The Coroner remarked that this was the first time he had had a lady doctor at his court. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
