ABSTRACT

The information kindly sent us from Leicester is to the effect that no classes at the Leicester Technical Schools are specially suitable for women, and none have attended-a statement which seems remarkable when we find that the school has a section for frameknitting and one for boot and shoe making, where "clicking," ''pattern-making," and the use. of the sewing machine are taught, and then find that the :figures of the last census returns show that the hosiery trade in Leicester employs 3,121 men and 5,214 women, the boot and shoe trade 9,172 men and 3,883 women.
