ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors look particularly at developing action strategies and putting them into practice. They make explicit that the process of developing and implementing action strategies may often be done collaboratively. In developing action strategies in practice, the authors test the outcomes of analysis and thus, indirectly, test the preliminary practical theory. The chapter discusses why it is not always easy to translate a "good intention" like this into action. It considers the possibility that the action researcher took no action even though there was good opportunity to do so. The chapter presents some information about the importance of action strategies for improving and coming to a better understanding of practice, their characteristics, and several examples of how educators have enacted action strategies.
