ABSTRACT

This chapter marks the book’s conclusion. In it, I argue that in developing contexts, strategic risk governance must go further than merely signing on to global disaster risk reduction frameworks, but that several factor limit this. Using the Summary Disaster Risk Governance Inventory Matrix, the chapter discusses the commonalities among the stronger and weaker disaster risk governance contexts and also pulls together cross-cutting themes across the four case study countries. The chapter also addresses its conceptual framework and discusses the implications of the findings in the context of the literature and empirical work.
