ABSTRACT

It has long been a trite saying that everything is on a gigantic scale in America,—hotels, railways, institutions, strikes, Congresses—especially Congresses. One of these gigantic Congresses has recently been held by 17the Temperance Association, and another will shortly assemble, at which many topics will be discussed. For some months notices have gone out that an International Council of Women called by the National Women Suffrage Association will be held in Washington this spring, commencing on March 25th and lasting eight days. It is expected to be an important gathering, and delegates have been invited, not only from every State in America, but from England, France and other countries in Europe.
