The illustrations are numerous and truthful. The book includes many kinds <>f British bird1:1 that are not usually kept in confinement, but Mr. Wallace is so sympathetic in his treatment, and appears so thoroughly to understand bird nature, that his recommendation of any special species has more weight with kind-hearted people than those of any ordinary bird fancier.
