ABSTRACT

The third volume of the Census of 1881 has at last appeared. It possesses a special interest for all who have at heart the welfare of women, as it contains the classified occupations of the people, and by comparing it with the census of 1871, we can observe what progress women are making in the various occupations now open to them, and from thence perhaps form a guess in what directions it may be possible to open out fresh employments.
