ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the status of global food security. It first shows the progress towards improved food security since World War II. It then presents the current status of food security at the continental and global levels. Finally, it highlights major challenges that human beings have to overcome in order to improve future food security for all. The overview signifies the strong need and urgency for the human beings to improve global food security, esp., in regions where food is so insecure.
