ABSTRACT

Clinicians who work with neurodevelopmental disorders must constantly seek new knowledge and understanding of our highly complex patients. Regular commitment to continuing education is necessary regardless of whether one works in competitive academic settings or has a solo private practice. Self-awareness must lead to the avoidance of arrogance, and we must constantly challenge ourselves to obtain the highest levels of training and credentials available. Peer review and self-assessment regarding ethics and bias are important methods of ensuring that we are optimally beneficial to our patients, and staying healthy and sane is essential for enjoying our careers as opposed to simply working a job.
