ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the potentialities of an approach which anticipates weak signals and trends based on the analysis of internal and external sources. Eurotech is a medium-size company in the ICT sector. Today Eurotech is an international group focused on innovation, applied both to products and to the business model. The company's strategy is focused on growth, and is sustained by two main drivers: A corporate culture based on innovation and Openness to internationalization. Eurotech was born as a "factory of ideas", with the intent of miniaturizing computers for applications in still unexplored domains. According to Eurotech, innovation in the Embedded Computer Technology (ECT) sector can only be incremental, and this is why the best choice is to innovate within the industry standard. The organizational structure of Eurotech involves the separation of functions according to their relevance for present and future customers. Soft factors are also very important: they support Eurotech's innovation strategy in many ways.
