ABSTRACT

This chapter examines not only the idea, but also about why readers will want to read what one have to say. Topics like Egyptology, Maya archaeology, mummies, and science and archaeology are all niches within this larger universe. If one know ways of identifying and reaching the niche market, be sure to address them. The narrative discusses the idea, the themes of the book, your qualifications, and the competition. The chapter offers the publisher a fleshed-out table of contents. Quotes sometimes work, but should be used carefully as epigraphs and communicate the subject matter. In their invaluable book on publishing and writing, Thinking Like Your Editor, Susan Rabiner and Alfred Fortunato stress the importance of the organizational structure of the book. They distinguish between three types of chapters: 'context or background chapters; chapters that further the argument and narrative of the book; and break-narrative chapters'.
