ABSTRACT

Students will complain that you are not meeting their classroom expectations because of their lack of experience with group research. Careful attention to their complaints is an important part of enhancing the learning experience. Instead of dismissing these complaints or asserting your authority to construct the classroom any way you wish, consider the strength of commitment to goals and priorities that students describe when they complain. The surveys by Cooper and Associates (1990) inform the following discussion and confirm my own experience in dealing with students in PBL courses over the last twenty years.
