ABSTRACT

“Avenues to Professionalism is one of the most useful, practical and memorable anthropology courses that I have taken. It supplemented more traditional academic courses by causing me to think in a very specific manner about the jobs available within anthropology and the skills that are necessary to be successful in them. Today, a year after graduation and into my dream job, I still find myself using formats for the letter drafts and the five-year plan that we developed in that class, but more importantly, the basic tools and evaluative procedures that it introduced will be helpful over a lifetime.”
