ABSTRACT

The global telecommunications networks worked at light speed. Fiber and satellites sent the images of Bryson Jones and his artifact to every part of the world, from Kuala Lumpur to Kodiak, Tierra del Fuego to the Andaman Islands. There was no inhabited place on earth where people could avoid seeing the “Startling Discovery,” as one headline shouted from a huge screen in Times Square. Jones’s face and the artifact floated side by side in the darkness of the void, like an image of Good and Evil.
