ABSTRACT
Controversy surrounding the use of private communication devices is not only between employers and employees or teachers and students; it is also rife in the general public and indicative of how society as a whole is learning to manage these innovations. There is a growing concern that the addictive nature of digital devices gradually damages people’s capacity to assess where and when it is risky or inappropriate to use them. There is a parallel fear that these devices modify our cognitive capacities, reducing our ability to concentrate and to process information.
