On the other hand (I can hear an alert copy editor wondering where the first hand was), maybe I should have labeled this as a pri′mer after all. It has turned out to be more like an undercoat, something that prepares a surface for the finish coat to follow. Supplying that finish coat will be up to you. If I have achieved anything here it has been only to help you understand ethnography a little better, recognize some things to watch for, and be aware of what I think you will have to do to be sure that you are really doing ethnography (assuming, of course, that is what you have set out to do). Note that the educator part of me already thinks he knows what you need to know in order to do that.
