ABSTRACT
The most traditional way of disseminating findings is through journal articles, books, and conferences. Students often choose or are asked to publish with their advisors, who can make an important contribution to the article and have had an input into the research. Findings and recommendations are more important here, because these inform practice. Nontraditional forms of dissemination include theatrical performances, dance, and poetry this is known as performative social science, which might reach a wider audience and make a greater impression than traditional forms of writing. Contact with other academics and professionals in the field could lead to research collaboration and to introductions to employers. Furthermore, we should save the most important findings for peer-reviewed papers, which count toward university research assessment exercises and make a greater contribution to the CV. We must remember that the critique offered by our peers will help us to improve the paper.
