ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the conversation of the author and Jennifer. It focuses on the research that treats the family as a holistic system and studies how the system as a whole functions interpersonally within the care giving situation. One of the paradigms of qualitative research is arts based. In arts-based and humanities-based research, the focus, in the chapter author think, is on the spiritual beyond the experience. One of the author's areas of research is end-of-life communication, and related to that, he has been doing some work on tourist sites connected to slave and plantation cemeteries, so the concepts of the rhetoric of tourism and historical revisionism especially related to marginalized populations, have been on his mind. The chapter examines that Chris's paper Transgressions, about his experience of being denied tenure, was written as a performance, sort of a script, but it is written as a narrative built around his performance.
