ABSTRACT
After distributing and discussing the course outline, Tucker ask students in his first class if they have heard 'American Pie', They have a lively discussion, but they mainly want to focus on the metaphoric references to pop stars. He yearned to be part of a community of goodness and value that would enable to make his life of work something Tucker could experience as play, a vocation grounded in love and trust rather than an exercise in alienated labor. As soon as Tucker completed his dissertation, Tucker began to prepare for a new course, 'Interpersonal Communication', which the chair at Cleveland State had put into the schedule for his first term. They have to go back and look at it, look at ourselves, look at how they interacted, and what they can learn from it.
