ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to describe the field methods as they were applied at various stages of the SSP. The research design was informed in part by some of the theories and methods of landscape archaeology discussed in the previous chapter. However, the ambition here was not simply to find a ready-made methodology and apply it to a new area but, rather, to temper conventional survey methods with a sensitivity to local historical, geographical and cultural conditions.
