ABSTRACT
Twining denotes a sub-class of basket weaves manufactured by passing moving horizontal elements, called wefts, around stationary vertical elements, called warps. In the twining process, the wefts are active while the warps are passive. Twining techniques may be employed to produce containers, mats, and bags, as well as fish traps, cradles, hats, clothing, and a wide variety of other objects.
