ABSTRACT

In January 2007, 33 percent of the energy generated in the United States was produced by coal, 26 percent from natural gas, 15 percent from crude oil, 13 percent from nuclear energy, 2.6 percent from natural gas liquids, 4.3 percent from hydroelectric power, 4.2 percent from biomass, 0.5 percent from geothermal sources, and 0.4 percent from wind energy. 1
