ABSTRACT

Municipal water systems consist of a few primary components. Water is supplied from a well, a river or lake, or a reservoir. The water is treated in a water treatment plant to remove sediment by filtration and/or settling and bacteria, typically with ozone, ultraviolet light, and chlorine. The output from the water treatment plant is pressurized by a high-lift pump and distributed by the system’s primary feeder pipes. The water tower or stand pipe connects with the primary feeder pipes.
