ABSTRACT

Books on philosophy and methodology of geography invariably contain full-length chapter or discussion on ‘what is geography’. Besides, books continue to be written with focus on ‘what geography is about’, ‘what geographers do’, ‘how geographers think’, ‘why geographers think that way’, ‘doing geography’, ‘new theories, new geographies’ and so on. The last quarter of a century has seen several contributions such as The Geographer’s Art (Haggett 1990), Geography’s Inner Worlds (Abler, Marcus, and Olson 1992), The Challenge for Geography – A Changing World: A Changing Discipline (Johnston 1993), Thinking Geographically (Hubbard et al. 2002), What Is Geography? (Bonnett 2008), to name a few.
