ABSTRACT

A global spider web of marketing and packaging organizations are trading on how well they know the site and how effectively they can deliver the travel experience from small towns and capitals across the globe. All travel is connected by transportation companies, a major part of the travel and tourism supply chain. The integration of transportation into the study of managing sustainable tourism in the 21st century is essential. The hotel and cruise line industry, while very different, are in comparable positions within the global travel and tourism supply chain because they offer accommodations be it on land or sea. They are the link in the chain that offers a place to sleep and relax with air cooling and heating, water, lighting, and food frequently on a 24-hour basis. The business model of the hotel world has an important impact on how the travel industry views its supply chain obligations.
