ABSTRACT

In the case of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award photo, the broadcast network TNT is visible in the background, as is AFTRA, the union that represents film, television, and radio artists. Even when some part of a brand's name may be blocked, it's usually repeated many times. Pop culture is not alone. Every major sporting event now includes major sponsorships and advertising outside and inside the venue. Every major sports stadium now has a brand name attached to it. The most recent Super Bowl game was played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. NASCAR and soccer are just two of the other major sports where advertising and brands run rampant. No brand name is there by accident: some corporation paid to make sure it was there. In 2017, product placement is a multibillion-dollar business, pushing out into every aspect of media-related lives, including Facebook, Twitter, Skype, and other popular digital services.
