ABSTRACT

This final chapter deals with the 1960s, the years which were, for me, the last lap of my service as H.A.R. By the time the decade opened the established staff of the Audience Research Department was about one hundred - a far cry from the oneman-and-a-girl of 1936. But I never felt that the mere fact of having a fairly big staff was anything to get puffed-up about; indeed, there were times when I found myself envying the departments that needed no more than a cosy dozen or so to do all that had to be done.
