ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book demonstrates how peasants have planted themselves firmly as important protagonists on the international arena. It outlines presents how the observations of social movements' comprehensive multi-scale activities compel us to move towards a more dynamic analytical framework. The book discusses the role Committee on World Food Security (CFS) plays as a multi-actor global platform; and in particular how the direct participation of peasants'/peoples' organisations in UN negotiations presents a pioneering example of a more complex, inclusive and democratic foundation for global policy-making. It also discusses how mobilised peasants contribute with analyses, practices and production of the global age society. Lastly, the book provides two possible future research perspectives related to the building of new foundations for global governance and co-building around knowledge production.
