ABSTRACT

L o n g before the normal monsoon rains had made their appearance in northern India careful preparations had been made by the Central Relief Committee to forestall disaster in the earthquake-stricken area. The contour survey, made by the Government surveyors, showed that less displacement o f masses of land on a huge scale had occurred than had originally been estimated. But only the monsoon rains themselves could show what would be the final effect o f the changes made by the earthquake in the land surface of North Bihar.
