ABSTRACT

For the first time, the dancer is challenged to discover a greater relationship between their body and space. There is multitasking involved that tests the spatial relationship of the dancer while also moving through a pattern of motion that requires specific placement, timing and force. The height of the dancer on the wall determines the amount of rope that they are working with. The length of rope is one of the variables that determines how much force is necessary to move the body in a half turn. Also determining the half turn is the weight of the dancer, the power of the dancer, the length of the dancer's legs, and the speed at which they are required to finish, among other things. As the dancer progresses and gets stronger, variations in tempo give the teacher options with which to challenge them.
