ABSTRACT

In Chapter 10, we explore the wide range of skills and abilities that practitioners need to be able to understand the nuances of effective partnerships between practitioner and parents; between practitioner and baby or young child; and between practitioner and other professionals. This chapter first explores the relationships between parents and practitioners, the key person role and the home learning environment. This, however, does not take place in a vacuum, so the important cultural influences on practice and the ‘quality’ of pedagogy are also discussed here.
