ABSTRACT
A B IR D alighted in a meadow where a fowler had set a trap; he had scattered a few grains of corn on the ground and settled there in ambush, wrapping himself in leaves and grass so that the luckless prey might be lured from the path of safety. The little bird approached him in all ignorance, circled round him once, and then hopped boldly up to the man.
