ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the cooperation and the dialogue between the Global Unions, the ILO, and the IFIs based on the interview findings and observations. The chapter provides a description of the structure and functioning of the dialogue, examines the expectations of the different dialogue stakeholders (organisational representatives), and considers the outcomes of the dialogue in relation to four selected topics: the promotion of the CLS, labour market issues and social protection, privatisation and PPPs, and loan conditionality. The second part of the chapter considers some of the drivers and obstacles to the dialogue from the perspective of organisational representatives and discusses future prospects and challenges.
