ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on key concepts discussed in preceding chapters of this book. The book analyzes important issues related to Arab American children with disabilities. It presents background information about the Arab American community and describes the current status of disability and special education in Arab countries. The book explains a comprehensive review and synthesis of pertinent literature and also discusses the methods Arab Americans can use to navigate the US special education system. It explains guidelines for culturally appropriate special education practices with Arab Americans. The book provides a basis for further investigation of the unique needs and the challenges faced by Arab American children with disabilities and their families that would enable service providers to offer culturally and linguistically appropriate special education and related services for this population. Special education and related service providers have increasing numbers of opportunities to work with culturally and racially diverse populations.
