ABSTRACT

In education we often hear the terms equity and equality. Equity means ensuring that needs are met for all children and that everyone has access to the tenets of a quality education. Equality, in contrast, means that everyone gets the same. Everyone does not need the same, therefore it is the responsibility as educators to level the playing field for all children. Many of the school playgrounds were used by the local baseball and soccer leagues for both practice and games. As the games and practices were held in the neighborhood parks the students had no trouble with transportation. English Language Learners often do not have access to regular high-quality health care resulting in their physical and mental health needs being neglected. School-based health centers can offer a solution that is both convenient and affordable.
