ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to discuss different research and analysis methods which are suitable for fashion supply chain management. M. Easterby-Smith et al. believe the examination of research philosophy is essential for researchers to evaluate, refine and specify the methodologies to lead to appropriate use of research methods and strategies. Research philosophy is the attitude held by researchers towards the method in which data are gathered, analysed and applied, and is determined by the way in which one views the world and the assumptions associated with such views. When the adapted philosophy is unclear, it is more than likely the researcher is a pragmatist who believes it is possible to have variations in epistemology, ontology and axiology. Quantitative research is often carried out by positivists who believe in scientific methods of gaining knowledge. Quantitative data are usually collected through questionnaire or observation where frequency of occurrences is recorded for quantitative purposes.
