ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a number of perspectives about the long-term effects of global environmental problems and their countermeasures. One of these perspectives concerns the inexorable link between globalizing economies and the environment, as well as how the former impact the latter. Other perspectives consider the potential impacts of technological development and the principles of sustainable development. This chapter begins with an explanation of the impact that globalizing economies have on the environment and describes how implementing environmental policy in one country could have broader, international ramifications.
