ABSTRACT

The purpose of the Law on Equal Treatment is to ensure the implementation of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, Article 29 provisions that establish the equality of persons and the prohibition of the restriction of human rights. The law implements Directive 2000/43/EC on the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin and Directive 2000/78/EC establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation. Gender Equality Law as amended in July 15, 2014, ensures the implementation of the Republic of Lithuania Constitution on men and women's equal rights, and prohibits discrimination on grounds of sex, especially when it comes to family or marital status. The Law on Safety and Health at Work, 2003, as amended in 2010, in relevant part, requires the employer to ensure the safety and health of workers at work in all aspects related to work. Occupational risks must be assessed in every company.
