ABSTRACT

Australia's Fair Work Commission (FWC) has the power to handle anti-bullying complaints. Any worker who reasonably believes he/she is, or has been the victim of workplace bullying will be able to apply to the FWC to have an investigation conducted into the matter and have their grievances heard. The Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (SDA) No. 4, 1984 as amended, protects individuals across Australia from discrimination on the basis of sex, marital status, or pregnancy and, in relation to employment, family responsibilities. Sexual harassment is also covered by the SDA. The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), as amended, covers discrimination on the ground of disability, including discrimination because of having a career, assistant, assistance animal, or disability aid. The Age Discrimination Amendment Act 2006 amended the Age Discrimination Act 2004, which prohibits discrimination against older Australians on the basis of age and also protects young people from discrimination on the basis of their age.
