ABSTRACT

Any aggrieved woman may make, in writing, a complaint of sexual harassment at the workplace to the Internal Committee if so constituted, or the Local Committee, in case it is not so constituted, within a period of three months from the date of incident and in case of a series of incidents, within a period of three months from the date of the last incident. The Criminal Law Act, 2013 to the Indian Penal Code, effective from February 3, 2013, added provisions treating sexual harassment as a criminal offense. Other sections protect women from stalking and the voyeurism. The offenses added by the amendment are punishable with imprisonment of a term extending up to three years, a fine, or both. In case of sexually colored remarks the punishment can extend up to an imprisonment of one year, a fine, or both.
