ABSTRACT

The Labour Act was adopted by the Croatian Parliament on July 15, 2014. This Act regulates employment relationships in the Republic of Croatia unless otherwise provided for by another law or a published and valid international agreement, as concluded and ratified in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia. The Anti-Discrimination Act was effective from January 1, 2009, and amended, implemented Directive 2000/43 on the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin and Directive 2000/78 established a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation. In addition to covering direct and indirect discrimination, the Act covers harassment and sexual harassment. Croatia's new Health and Safety at Work Act entered into force on June 19, 2014. The employer shall be obliged to implement stress prevention at work or in relation to work caused in particular by factors such as content of work, work organization, working environment, poor communication, and interpersonal relationships.
