ABSTRACT

When long years have passed away there will be no mourning for suffering nobly borne. We shall see from a clear height how the life of love, and influence of character of one we love, depended on this suffering. All noble friends will prize the work and education of a friend more than her ease. There was sorrow among the disciples who stood near the cross; there was none when they preached Christ crucified. In the light of Christ's Passion we may rise above the storms of passionate despair to perfect faith, and partial sight of that blessedness which, prize we happiness never so warmly, we feel, if we be true friends, to be their fuller happiness, truer right, more shining glory than the lost ease.
