ABSTRACT

We need not fear, though the whirlwind and the fire reveal Him not, there remains the still small voice, which voice, speaking low and intermittently, we sometimes, forget and undervalue. But some wonderful mercy, some crushing sorrow, some sense of failure, or heroic deed may open men's eyes. Through years of shipwreck and violent denial and comfortable indifference that voice has been to many the one strong bond to all good, the one germ of faint hope, the one witness against evil, sowing in their hearts that grain of mustard seed that shall be a goodly tree in the Kingdom of Heaven.
