ABSTRACT

If I have one hope greater than all others, overshadowing all acts and thoughts and words, it is the hope that I may share with others some of the joy I have in knowing what God is, that this dear life has been precious to me much for the sake of the possibility it gives of living as if God were near; and when a hungering soul is near me, if I were to turn away and hug respectability and my own bright life, I should be giving up the very purpose for which I had cared for them all.
